Winter Series Lives Up To Its Name.

Unusually nice weather greeted the fans and racers to I-76 Speedway on Sunday afternoon. With high car counts in the classes the fans were in store for great racing.

Heat race winners in the modifieds were, Ken Maloney, Cliff Lawson, Bill Lundock and Will Brack. In the Street Stocks Jason Schobinger and Darren Bucklen won their heats and in Econo action Brian Bernhardt, Bob Reese and Kent Stubbe took heat race honors.

Four mod lights made the trip with Fred Shneider the class of the four, Bobby Harr took his Midget for a few hot laps and Jason Schobinger brought out his new Late Model for a few laps around the high banked quarter mile dirt track.

The modified main came down to a slugfest between Cliff Lawson, Ricky Alvarado and Ronnie Wallace with Cliff Lawson using a last lap slower car entering the track from the infield to hold of the hard charge by Ricky Alvarado who was coming to his inside for possibly the winning pass. What a race!

The Street stocks got off to a rocky start with the front row taking each-other out handing the pole over to D.J Banks but the story of the race was Darren Bucklen coming from the back of the pack after a lap 1 wreck on the front row to challenge Brad Shelton for the win but Brad had the car out front and on auto pilot and went on to win the Street Stock main.

The Econo main took to the track as the sky opened up with rain turning to sleet then snow as mother nature reminded us all that this was “The Winter Series”
